Happy Holiday!

I hope everyone has enjoyed the extended weekend and has had time to decompress a little. We are about to embark on a very ardurous jorney, but the rewards will be dramatic. This is something that can no longer be tolerated in little towns all over the country.
The power-hungry elitist group will no longer hold the working class little people hostage. We have rights, and we have responsibilities.
I also want to encourage everyone, if you haven't already, please do what you can to help those lost souls in New Orleans and surrounding areas. I can't imagine what terror they must be feeling. It is a true tragedy, and our national government has not responded well to this internal upheavel. It leaves one scared and prayerfull that no such devestation will visit our shores again.
Keep them in your thoughts and be thankful for what you have. Even if it's not much, it's much more than many others, so count your blessings.
On Tuesday we will move forward with more information and interesting facts about the sanitation department. Even if they sign the contract, we will work to have it repealed.
Garner and his administrative decision making has done too much damage to New Albany already. We will resist further harm.

  • The New Orleans scenario has been mulled over infinitum by government officals for years, according to my source. New Orleans was once about sea level, but alluvium (dirt from Indiana) has raised the level of the land around New Orleans. Now, let me pose a question. Are we ready if the capacity of our levees is exceeded? Who is checking the flood gates to see if they are in working order? Who knows the design constraints of the levees? Are the levees in good shape? This is something for the progressives and little people to worry about. Downtown New Albany could be underwater just like New Orleans.

  • Does this mean that Scribner Place would be underwater as well????

  • Scribner Place is meant to be underwater, that way we can have a pool that is both manmade and natural, one thing is for certain, the city will be underwater financially for financing this boondoggle

  • Do we have enough money to insure the buildings?

  • As was suggested at the Council, the decision to approve EDIT funds for Scribner should have been tabled until we knew what the County was going to do.
Instead, they were pressured into approval so the sanitation issue could be put forth.
Now, they are going to present an ammendment to the approval recinding the initially approved amount of EDIT funds.
Everyone contact your Council Rep. and tell them we want this ammendment approved.

  • You must have missed the second meeting where they voted to go it alone without the countys help.

This is still a win-win for the citizens of Floyd County, which by the way includes the city of New Albany.
