Lots of Our Money at Work -

Here's a look at the overflow that "DIDN'T OCCUR" according to reports from New Albany to the EPA oversight facilities. We thought you might get as much of a kick out of these ghostly images as we did.
Can you guess the location of this photo?
You get 10 points if you do!

Hint: The photos were taken 2 days after the last photos we put up were.

Don't you just love the wonderful golden brown coloring the water has?

Here's a good look into how dangerous this water is, in more ways than one. It moves very swiftly, and it is a large body of water. Anyone who might slip, or fall, into the water would be in serious danger.

Here's another little tributary that's come into being thanks to the overflowing system.
It's all headed straight to the Ohio River.

Finally!
We've saved the best for last.

Do you know what we call this beautiful structure?
Our $44 million waterfall!!!

  • What would really be a great start to 'fixing' this mess would be for the Engineers and Consultants to admit that the plan they said would work, the $44 million plan, in fact didn't work.
Didn't work in the sense that it did not solve the problems the EPA had designated as the problems they were most concerned about.
The biggest kick in the pants, however, is that they were TOLD their modeling was wrong, and the plan wouldn't work.
They just refused to listen, and the Council, of which the current Mayor was a part of, didn't have the guts to stand up and say,"NO!"
"This is the wrong plan for the City."
Even though they knew it, and Garner is on record as saying as much, they wouldn't stand up and say it was a bad idea, they didn't stop it, so...the 'chosen' plan went through, and now look where we are.
They say we now have to fix it right, and they want US to pay for it again!
    Guess what? WE SAY NO!!!
We want the surity bonds from the Engineers and a refund from the Consultants. THEY were wrong.
An apology from every, then, City Council Member, including Garner, would sure be nice, but...we won't hold our breaths on that one.

  • This is the rest of the story, East Ender:

There were several "Plans" submitted. All were kicked around and looked at. A plan was chosen in FRONT OF THE PUBLIC at a PUBLIC Sewer Board meeting.

The next thing the public knew, Mr. Utz and Mr. Ledford, the Engineers Overton hired, resigned.

It took the CJ an opens records request to get a copy of their resignations, and for the public to find out the true "skinny".

Evidently, Overton held a meeting behind "closed" doors, and Chas Hunter changed his vote on which "Plan", and went with another "Plan". When the Engineers called him out in the hallway, he made the comment "you boys don't understand, I need this job -- you two don't". They quit.

We begged Mr. Utz to go back onto the sewer board because we, the public, needed someone we could trust. We do trust Mr. Utz and Mr. Solomon -- God knows they are trying to do the right thing.

But, there you have it, the rest of the story...........

  • We have a couple of questions you may be able to answer for us.
It is rumored that Chaz Hunter was taken off the Sewer Board by promising to give all Drainage Contracts to his company.
    Is this true?
Who else was on that Sewer Board when this decision was made?
What other Boards does Chaz Hunter currently still sit on?

  • Yes, it's true happened under Overton. Still sits on the "drainage board". His signature as an Engineer, PE is also sitting on paperwork presented to IDEM for Stormwater verification. Citizens were told that part didn't really matter didn't have to have a real "PE". Go figure. He's a surveyor.
