  • We are Taxpayers. We are husbands, wives, sisters and brothers. We all want progress. But not at any cost.
But we also have a voice. We are the little people of New Albany. We work hard and play by the rules.
We love our town and we plan to make a difference. We will no longer sit back and allow things to continue the way THEY ARE.

  • SO, you are ok WITHOUT progress if it "costs" too much? NOT US. WE're starting to wonder about you Cconcern Taxpayer! I hope that was a TYPO.

  • The turn out was great for The Concern Citizens for Democracy. I truly did not realize how truly upset the Taxpayers of New Albany are. After working the crowd several hours. And talking to the people of New Albany. People I had never met or talk to. Just walked up talked to them about everyday living and ask what their concerns were. And believe me everyone did have all kinds of concerns. The stories average people (Little People) of New Albany were telling me. I walked away realizing how truly Corrupt this City was. Even more than I already really knew. From high stakes poker games at Doug's place. And Regina dropping $500.00 on drinks and the VFW on Market. To being sent home in a Cab as she was too drunk to drive. The stories went on and on. But the one that made the biggest impact to me was a lady who flat told me. They need to throw everyone out of Office in the City County Building. And what this City truly needs is common people. Who don't need the money. People who will roll up their sleeves and work. And for them to work hard for all of us and stop robbing us blind! And the saddest part was everyone said the same thing! What can we do! The attitude from our New Albany Police was total uncalled for. And Thanks to the sanitation workers they spread out carrying their signs. They even nailed a Valla Ann for Mayor sign on a pole. Boy you should have seen "jimmy's" face when he came around the corner. The best part is we have it all on tape. That was worth it all to see Mr. Mayor's face. From our end of Spring and Vinn. Street the Boo's were loud and clear! Especially all the "Shame on you Jimmy" heckling through the crowds. People have been threaten over the last couple days. And that is wrong! When it comes to Freedom of Speech, and being allowed to assembly should be the right we all have. But not in this town! In fact I am about ready to leave the Democrat Party for I do not feel it is not the Voice of the people. Nor do they stand for the working class anymore.

And I myself will never cow down to the threats I had recieved. I will always stand for what I believe in.

God help this City of New Albany.

    Concern Taxpayer

  • If you want people in office who "don't need the money" - that disqualifies most of the people in the city council now!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:22 PM, October 01, 2005

  • Once the mayor got past the blowhard checkpoint, he was warmly received the rest of the way.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:36 PM, October 01, 2005

  • Dear Anon, from Anon;

Not from my vantage point on Spring St. He was neither booed or clapped for, just sort of ignored. Even the little girls and boys in their various activities got a warmer reception. Must be that beer haze -- we all saw it. Too bad, so sad.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:30 PM, October 01, 2005

  • We would like to Thank The Concern Citizens Group for the signs made for us today.
And for all of your support.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:37 PM, October 01, 2005

  • That was sure strange with none of the City Council in our parade. Didn't it seem kind of short? Still I bet everyone had a good time.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:49 PM, October 01, 2005

  • did your group have a permit to demonstrate? or did you blatantly violate the law

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:59 PM, October 01, 2005

  • was he on the same float as the 151st or a differant one?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:05 PM, October 01, 2005

  • We were there, not really that many people, but some showed up so that was good.

Our question is --- What is our plan? What are we going to do next?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:10 AM, October 02, 2005

  • The comment that I have deleted was disturbing and I do believe, possiby more than just disrespect. I'll be checking on this one.

There was no "protest rally", so we didn't need a permit.
Our assembly occurred prior to the parade time. After that, everyone spread out through the parade route, so we know exactly how it went all the way to the end.

For the sanitation workers, we stand behind you. Garner has this all turned into a circus sideshow. Garner has played his cards way too close together.
Thank you to everyone who did show up for the parade, we were definately noticed and caused some stirring. Among thousands of folks, I'd say that's a good start.
Keeping our momentum, we will meet again Monday night before the Council meeting.

By Blogger East Ender, at 2:29 AM, October 02, 2005

  • You are right East Ender. It is very disrespectful of real little people to keep calling yourself one. It is almost BIGOTRY. I can't believe you allow it on your blog! someone should investigate YOU!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:33 AM, October 02, 2005

  • well lets see, you state in your comments that you assembled before the parade, that is a demonstration under a constitutional interpretation and you stated that you were noticed and caused some stirring, sounds like a demonstration to me and you intend to do it again Monday before the council meeting.

Sounds to me like you violated New Albany City code and I think the new code enforcement officer needs to investigate this.

Plus you have it on tape, that can be supoened, Happy Harvest Homecoming!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:27 PM, October 02, 2005

  • I don't think we broke any laws anonymous! There was "hardly" even a protest there. Just some people shouting and booing. I think concern taxpayer made a bigger deal than it was. "He" said "he" was for the no progress if it cost to much and didn't correct it. That's the "WRONG ATTITUDE." We want to support the CCD but not if that's what it is about.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:33 PM, October 02, 2005

  • You need to do some research on what your claiming Boys!
Laura has violated no laws. The sidewalks belong to the people of New Albany.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:28 PM, October 02, 2005

  • actually, the sidewalks come under local govt. jurisdiction beagle

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:01 PM, October 02, 2005

Prove to me Laura broke the Law of New Albany? Or the State of Indiana Laws? Put up or shut up.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:13 PM, October 02, 2005

  • did you have stickers and signs saying Jimmy g you work for me? Did you boo the mayor, did you in any way have an organized political statement?

    did you ahve a permit?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:41 PM, October 02, 2005

  • § 99.35  USE LIMITED TO INGRESS AND EGRESS OF TRAFFIC AND CERTAIN OTHER ACTIVITIES.

         (A)     No person, firm or corporation shall use the rights-of-ways of the city for any purpose except for ingress and egress to traffic upon said rights-of-ways, or otherwise in conformance with this subchapter, without the written permission of the Board of Public Works and Safety.

There you go leagle beagle, I think a protest would violate this city code

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:02 PM, October 02, 2005

  • This would be a fine time for legal bagel to divulge where he or she got his or her degree in law.

    Ain't holding my breath, naw.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:42 PM, October 02, 2005

  • Hi, Laura:) Noticed this interesting commentary going on about our constitutional rights, (the right to assemble and freedom of speech) as US citizens.

The funny thing is the lack of knowledge (or perhaps not) nor mention of regarding what went on at one year's Harvest Homecoming Parade. Certain citizens participated at the same location in support of their firefighters and police officers; both Unions were battling with Overton. Their families were there (the police officers had to work), and we all had signs for the Mayor, including me, supporting these men and women. Citizens at that time organized by word of mouth from families and unions of these City employees.

Wouldn't you think that when the Board of Works gave out that parade permit and laid out the parade route that action alone constituted the right for all citizens living in and outside of the NA area the freedom of assembly and their right to applaud for whomever or whatever went by and boo for whomever or whatever went by from the sidewalks TAXPAYER'S/CITIZEN'S paid for and in the street's TAXPAYER'S/CITIZEN'S paid for?

And, at that particular parade I mentioned earlier, every police officer turned their back on Overton when she came by, and now the police officers should turn against it's very citizens because citizens did exactly the same thing by showing support for the sanitation union? Are we to think we can only support certain Unions?

This "legal spin" can't possibly be from a constitutional lawyer; though perhaps "they" should consult one. Perhaps someone needs to post and/or hand out copies of OUR United States of America Constitution down at the City Hall. As I said another time on here, check out the 2nd Amendment. I'm banking on that. I also have a very good friend who IS A constituional lawyer; practiced before the Supreme Court and would love to have these so called anti-democracy "desperados" mess with any of our citizens -- or, in other words, bring on that subpoena (prosecutor ought to enjoy this one). I am suggesting for all of us to engage and refute any such activities suggested -- again with a healthy reliance on the 2nd Amendment!

Keep up the good work, Laura. Council Meeting tomorrow night, 7:30 PM. Hope ALL can make it. Haven't heard anything about a demonstration at Council tomorrow nite -- they must know something the rest of us don't. Take care. :)

  • FREEDOM OF SPEECH IN

    SMART THINKIN...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:12 AM, October 03, 2005

  • THANK YOU LEGAL BEAGLE!
And thank you Yvonne for backing us up. Some folks just can't stand to see people achieving.
I will see everyone at Monday night's Council meeting.
We must continue to question the administration's decisions.
We cannot allow this inept Mayor to continue to make departmental changes that will impact this city way beyond his term.

By Blogger East Ender, at 3:01 AM, October 03, 2005

  • Yep, and Bagel didn't answer the question.

    Typical.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:55 AM, October 03, 2005

  • THE SECOND AMENDMENT?????????? ARE YOU GOING TO SHOOT THEM?????

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:55 AM, October 03, 2005

  • 2nd Amendment

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

It may be a Freudian slip, but I think we just learned a bit more about these people than they cared to reveal

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:16 AM, October 03, 2005

  • So Yvonne wants to shoot people who disagree with her? WOW!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:38 AM, October 03, 2005

  • Yep, glad you figured out that "Freudian slip". Only hope alot of people went scurrying to their Bill of Rights, the Constitution and their Amendments.
Thanks, and please don't be scared - "scared of Kersey". I am willing to bet anyone that knows me is laughing out loud (or "lol" in computer ease) at your comment. Now that's funny. Thanks for brightening my day on here (and setting me straight about my Freudian slip). Tonite's meeting, I hope, isn't a bear.

    See ya tonite... :)
